RESEARCH REGARDING MUSIC
Play relaxing music.
A recent study reported that listening to relaxing music or tunes for 45 minutes in bed improved subjects’ sleep quality and quantity by an average of 35 percent over 21 days. Music can relax you by slowing down your breathing and heartbeat.
This is why we are including Metamusic® excerpts utilizing the Hemi-Sync® audio technology which synchronizes the brain and heart for better sleep and study.
I have been using this technology in my private practice since 1996 with great success. “Sleeping Through the Rain” actually helps synchronize the brain for better sleep. “Remembrance” works wonderfully when students have already had 20 minutes of “StudyBuddy” Programs # 1, #3 or #4, and when they wish to stay alert while memorizing, reading or studying.
For Best Results using StudyBuddy and Hemi-Sync®
For Memorization: It is recommended that you use the StudyBuddy Program # 3 for the first 20 minutes of memorization while you are practicing, “The MindMoves™ 7 Steps to Memorization”. After the 20 minute session, turn the StudyBuddy off. You may use the Photosonix stereo headphones from your CD player or tape player and then listen to “Remembrance” to keep you “in-the-groove” for memorization. DO NOT use Hemi-Sync® at the same time as the StudyBuddy, but at other times of study.
(The MindMoves® 7 Steps to Memorization is a method which has worked successfully on students as young as 6 year-old when they practiced correctly for 5 days in a row!)
For Sleep: Again, it is recommended to use the Hemi-Sync® Metamusic® title “Sleeping through the Rain” after you have finished StudyBuddy Program # 1 or #2 and have yet to fall asleep.
Hemi-Sync® was pioneered and developed by Robert A Monroe, founder of The Monroe Institute and Monroe Products. Hemi-Sync®, a patented, scientifically-proven, auditory-guidance technology, is a process which uses carefully blended and sequenced sound frequencies to produce a frequency following response in the two hemispheres of your brain.

OUR MUSICIANS:
JAAP SCHRODER, is a world class Baroque Violin Master from Amsterdam, Holland. His numerous achievements include solo performances, chamber music, conducting and teaching. He plays on authentic instruments from the baroque to the classical periods.
His style of interpretation which is supported by information of all sorts, is intended to capture the spirit of freshness and openness that characterized the music and sound of the French tradition of violin playing, with particular emphasis on the art of bowing –l’art de l’archet – and on the cultivation of a highly articulate expressiveness. We enjoy here his interpretation of the great masters Nicola Matteis ( c.1695, the elder and younger c.1677 – 1737), Franz von Biber (1644 – 1704), and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750). Maestro Schroder presents here two Bach transcriptions of his own: The Partita in D minor, composed for the transverse flute in A minor, and the famous organ Toccata (transposed to A minor) which he adapted for the violin without encountering serious problems, after stimulating discussions with musicologist Peter Williams. We are deeply appreciative of Schroder’s solo recording being made available to us for our younger generation of students. The 1985 Smithsonian album has recently been re-issued on the NAXOS label.

LANNY MEYERS (composer) is recipient of 2 Primetime and 4 Daytime Emmy Awards, a MAC Award, 4 Cine Golden Eagle Awards, and a Meet The Composer Grant from The New York State Council on the Arts. Recently he provided music and sound design for “Psychosomatic Wellness” the new CD by neuroscientist Dr. Candace Pert, author of “Molecules of Emotion”. “Pure Potentiality” is the supporting music behind “Moving the Moon” and “Eye-in-Palm-Crossover” in The StudyBuddy Instructional DVD for Students. It may be quite effective in guiding one into that elusive state of relaxation before going to bed.

ROBERT ANTHONY AVILES. As a result of having been given a Divine gift, Robert Anthony Aviles is able to deliver truly healing and harmonizing energy through his 7-string electric violin. This music works directly with the body’s subtle energy systems to help the body restore itself to an optimum level of efficiency and well-being. “ Ivory Towers” is the second song on the “Rhythm of the Mind” CD. It is designed to enhance intellectual development and further one’s capacity for concentration during work and study. This system unites energetic and harmonious musical properties with the Mozart Effect. Throughout the years this gifted violinist and composers’ music has received scores of positive and enthusiastic testimonies from students, teachers and parents.
We hope to make this wonderful music available to you in the near future.
MUSIC & LEARNING:
The “Mozart Effect” was studied some years ago revealing to the population at large what musicians were experiencing since biblical times. Listening to the harmonics of stringed instruments, especially the violin family stimulates neurological activity which enhances learning. Playing a stringed instrument such as the piano, violin, guitar, and harp actually creates new neurological pathways in the brain. And like learning a second language before the age of 11 years, playing a musical instrument, or experiencing brainwave training or EEG based sound entrainment like Hemi-Sync® and yes, even the EEG based sound portion of the StudyBuddy technology, all provide gentle yet profound frequencies and harmonics to “tune-up” the brain for higher functionality.
Just a note about playing the violin and learning: I was a violinist for 20 years. I was also a very slow reader. In High School it took me hours longer to study because reading made me drift and fall asleep. At the age of 18, I became a freshman in college and I panicked at the thought of having to read 18 books for Freshmen Reading, a required course. And imagine the theme of topic that year was “The Computer Age.” I thought to myself, “I want to be a doctor or a music therapist, what impact will computers have on my life?” Now I get a giggle when I think of my earlier fears. I remember crying and sharing my dilemma with my sweet-heart of a friend Jim Donahue after psychology class. “…and all those zeros and giga-bytes to remember, it’s just too much”, I sobbed. Jim taught me a special way to study text for dyslexics. Out of a freshman class of 15,000 I was one of nine students who received an A in Freshman Reading that year. I was on the “Dean’s List” from that time on and throughout my academic career. I have worked with that system for many years and out of it I have designed, “The MindMoves™ 7 Steps to Memorization”. Here is another interesting observation regarding my music lessons. Daily I played my violin, Bach and Vivaldi mostly, some Mendelssohn and of course symphony orchestral repertoire under the tutelage of Professor and Maestro Julius Stulberg conductor of The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra. I read somewhere that Albert Einstein played the same violin pieces at the very same age (19 – 21) when he began having his dreams about the laws of relativity. I ask myself if all of this is just a coincidence.
There are two prevailing philosophies that are embraced by our society regarding learning. As The Monroe Institute aptly puts it: “One holds that the Earth is a school where information is gathered within the human experience. Another embraces the idea that knowledge is best obtained by remembering the eternal, thus forsaking the physical.” We at MindMoves® have witnessed the profound beauty of integrating both philosophies. Teaching practical steps in spelling and memorization to an individual for example, is far more effective when two aspects of being are integrated: 1) When an individual is well rested, peaceful, nourished, and safe, s/he can operate with an open mind and open heart. The open mind and open heart are key to receptivity and learning; 2) When the individual’s brain is operating at a particular “state of synchronization” for receptivity to that specific kind of information the information goes in and stays in, circumventing the “traditional way” of repeating the same thing 2,000 times before an individual “gets it”.
